Cuore di Vetro
Cuore Di Vetro is the arty ice cream parlour with some of the best gelatos in Berlin. Offering a wide variety of flavours, including completely vegan sorbet and gelato, this artisan spot is understandably popular in the warmer months. Aside from serving up authentic Italian ice cream, they also host exhibitions, author’s readings and concerts. Artistically-inclined, tasty and authentic, it’s a must-try in Mitte.
When it comes to cheesecake in Berlin, it’s hard to go past Princess Cheesecake. This prim little shop is located in Berlin’s central neighbourhood of Mitte. Bringing a level of grandeur, the cheesecakes at this fancy spot are no joke and live up to the monarchical moniker when it comes to flavour. It offers a huge, ever-changing range of cheesecakes and treats, which are all baked daily, to sate every sweet tooth.
Factory Girl, in its name and interior, pays a subtle homage to one of the greatest artists of all time, Andy Warhol and his long-loved muse, Edie Sedgwick. The perfect place to grab some coffee and slice of cake, while indulging your creative muscle within its inspiring, artistic atmosphere. It’s the well-located, cosy café with an arty charm.
Le Croco Bleu
The name comes from two crocodiles that allegedly were taken here from Berlin Zoo to escape the dangers of World War II. Their memory lives on through Le Croco Bleu‘s themed décor and the preserved animals scattered around the bar. It’s not every day you can look a crocodile between the eyes while sipping at a White bier.
Everything is upside-down here, literally. The furniture is stuck to the ceiling, and to top it off the place used to be a brothel. Popular with students and the hipster types of Kreuzberg, Madame Claude‘s atmosphere is cool and vintage. When the evening arrives, the dance floor comes alive, and music plays all night long. Just remember not to embarrass yourself by trying to dance upside-down, too.
